There are quite a lot on the market and its very difficult to know what you're getting as the prices are wide ranging.
You have to assume then that more expensive mattress protectors are better quality/ better fitting....You might be wrong!
I paid what I consider to be quite a lot for these and they are a poor fit- so tight around my small double mattresses that I can't use them! The quality is okay, nothing more. The seller gave me no alternatives when I informed him of the problem.

Is of good quality. Doesn't ruin in the wash, is quilted nicely. Does what it is supposed to do!
Update to my review: The first few times I washed it, it washed well. This last time it fused together in the dryer. That could have possibly been my fault so just watch your dryer heat and don't leave it too long if you dry it.
