Costumer Reviews

First of all the supplier sent the wrong mattress, a firm instead of a regular. However, they answered my email within the hour and it was soon sorted out. The mattress is great and good value for money. I had a niggly shoulder and neck pain which has completely gone. Could not go back to an ordinary mattress now as we are hooked on the new one.

I've used both foam and spring mattresses before and this is by far the best. The problem I have with spring mattresses is that they creak and when you sit on one part, everything else sinks into it. With foam mattresses, you have to be careful not to get too thin a mattress as you feel the bed spars underneath, which is the mistake I made before.

I originally went into a local bed store and was quoted £100 for a cheap metal spring-base frame plus £230 for the mattress plus £25 delivery so £355 for a full bed and this was an in-store model that was used.

I checked online and found that this premium mattress actually has more memory foam than the local store model and for £100 less. I was still apprehensive as I like to check how a mattress feels in-store first and some foam mattresses are overly firm, which I don't like but I went ahead with it.

I had it delivered to my work and fortunately (being vacuum-packed) it was portable enough to put in the back seat of my Fiat Punto. I was also able to carry it myself no problem. I opened the sealed pack and the mattress started to expand. Other reviews have complained about a chemical smell from some mattresses and I found this mattress only had a very faint chemical smell when opened and it cleared very quickly. It has a nice cover on it too.

I was surprised at how thick it expanded and it actually seems thicker than a standard mattress. Before I got my bed frame, I was able to sleep with it on the floor and it was extremely comfortable - I was glad I opted for regular comfort and not firm.

I ordered a solid pine double bed frame (Santos Double) online for £100 including delivery and I'm glad I opted for one with a solid slat base and not spring-base. One advantage with foam is that your weight sinks in at one location so doesn't affect anything else (I can for example sit a wide mug of hot cocoa on the mattress while I sit on the bed without it being in any way affected by me moving on the bed) but this also means that your weight isn't as evenly spread out so you sink further down and if you don't get a thick enough mattress, you will feel the slats. If you get a spring base, you may also find that you sink too far down and that you put too much pressure on individual slats resulting in them popping out.

Even on my solid slat base pine bed, I am finding that I sink in a bit much now that the mattress is worn in and the firm version may not do this but I still prefer it to be too soft than too firm so I'm happy with my decision.

All in all, I now have a rock solid pine bed base and a very soft, thick foam mattress for a total of £245, which is under £100 cheaper than a local store while still being better quality. I don't expect I'll ever buy a spring mattress again and would highly recommend this mattress to anyone.
